Order your King's Cake with us!
King Cakes are steeped in tradition and history that we’re proud to carry on at Dauphine’s! The first king cakes were made in Europe in celebration of the Catholic Epiphany, known as Three Kings Day (January 6th). Hidden inside each cake was a fava bean or “feve”. The lucky finder of the bean was “King” for the day and was said to receive good luck for the year. Others say that the luJancky winner also brings the cake to the next gathering! In 1870, the fava bean was replaced with tiny ceramic or porcelain charm. These antique little good luck charms were cherished and saved.
